He was walking or crawling (if that’s the proper term) on the walk way towards Greenbelt 2. I imagine he’s own his way to Mary Grace to get a cup of hot chocolate and cake which he’ll eat once he sits down to read a book.

Look, I don’t hate kids and I’ve long accepted that when you watch movies like Cars or any other animated movies, there will be kids and one cannot expect children to be very quiet during a movie. That would make a very boring and sad world.

However, I will not say the same for adults. I expect adults to be gracious enough to lower their voice when they must talk, avoid standing up all the time and stop their kids from kicking someone else’s chair. I will not excuse adults who should know perfectly well that there are other people in the cinema watching the movie apart from them and their companions. Plus they do not have the cuteness factor to make me smile and say “awww mga matatanda talaga “.

Needless to say, I did not enjoy the movie.

Earlier today though, I finally lined up and I finally go to try their milk tea. YEY!

I have to say though they have so many items in their menu. They have regular tea, milk tea, roasted tea, tea with pearls, green tea, black tea, smoothies, mousse  and it goes on and on. Then you’d have to choose if you want it hot or cold. Then you’d have to choose how much sugar you’d like and if cold, how much ice you’d like. That’s probably why it takes so long to get to the counter – there’s so many decisions to make. What if the person in front of you is the most indecisive person on earth?!? You could die waiting in that line.

What I did like though it that after you order, they give you a round thingy that’s supposed to buzz and light up once your order is ready to be claimed. So after placing your order, you can walk around first, go shopping and just come back when you hear the buzz.

So while walking around in the sports goods area (yes, I’m a sporty person) with J, I heard the buzz and I saw the light and here it is – Pearl Milk tea.

I like it!

She literally did not stop talking the entire length of the movie. She probably thinks she’s the live narrator of the film inserted with her own analysis which I’m sure she thought were so smart that she had to share it with the rest of the world. Here’s some of her film dialogue.

SCENE’: On the opening scene where Eugene Domingo first appears in their very small house in the slums with her 7 kids. 

Girl: They’re not showing her face no? I think it’s because the mood is serious. Once it becomes funny, they’ll start showing her face. 

Guy pal: Yeah

After which the scene shows Eugene’s face.

Me: (sana tama man lang yun mga sinasabi mo di ba, te?)

Girl: Why is it so quiet? They should have more dialogue.

Guy pal: I know.

Me: (It’s not quiet at all. Stop talking right now and it will be quiet.)

SCENE: The director, producer and production assistant is in a coffee house discussing how they will go about in making their film.

Girl: You know what, that’s really how it is.

The guy pal mumbles something. I didn’t really care to understand.

Me: (Oh great. She’s not only a live narrator but she’s a bonafide member of the indie film industry.)

SCENE: The director, producer and production assistant arrives at the house of their intended actress, Eugene Domingo. In the scene, her celebrity and actress stature is exaggerated.

Girl: She’s not really a famous actress but they portrayed it to make it look like she’s a critically acclaimed actress.

Guy pal: Yeah

Girl: Look, she even has all those awards displayed.

Guy pal: Yeah

Me:  :|  :|

SCENE: The director, producer and production assistant arrives at the Payatas dump site where they do their ocular for the film setting.

Girl: You know what we really do that. We visit sites and take pictures.

Guy pal: Yeah

Me: (Yes, we get it. You’e in the film industry and this movie really is about you.)

SCENE: The producer’s car get taken apart right before the group’s eyes. They proceed to show the 3 actors showing their acting chops with some dramatic scenes – frustration, defeat, hopelessness.

Girl: Now, they’re the ones doing the drama scenes. They’re saying “Take that, directors. We can act too.” Blah blah blah

Guy pal: Yeah

Girl: Blah blah blah

Me: (hands raised in surrender with deep deep middle-aged guy grunts)

SCENE: They’re shooting the septic tank scene. Eugene Domingo is standing near the septic tank in preparation for the scene. 

Girl: OMG. She’s going to fall. 

Guy pal: Yeah. Hahaha

Girl: She’s going to fall! 

Guy pal: Yeah. 

Me: (I hope you fall in the septic tank! Then this movie really will be about you and all our dreams will come true.)

In the end, I still enjoyed the film. Eugene Domingo is brilliant. The portrayed mockery of indie films is not overdone so it’s funny but not hurtful I thought.

One last thing…

Dear pretty but noise lady sitting next to me in the movie, 

Yes, you work in the film industry. Yes, you know more about how movies are made than I do. But no, I don’t need to here about it while I’m watching a movie. If you must share your thoughts while a movie is being shown, there is a special movie house that you can go to where you can talk to your heart’s content. I don’t even have to show where it is. I’m sure you are very familiar with the location. It’s called “your own living room”.

The other reason why I liked her is her songs. They were really good OPM songs. I love Hanggang Ngayon and Buti na lang! Then, she wen’t and ruined everything by coming out with an album full of remakes Why, Kyla?!! Why?

Seriously, where are the original Filipino songs? What happened to the George Canseco, Danny Tan, Ryan Cayabyab, etc of the music industry? Have we really ran out of talented composers and lyricists?

I have to say that I didn’t like it that much. There’s no egg and as you eat it you start to realize how salty it is. Sisig in the City is better but Rada sisig is still on top of the list

I just wanted to share more pictures of just how pretty the place is.

It says “there’s no place like home.” Quite true, isn’t it?

Right on top are the beautiful lights made of lamps, jars and christmas lights.

There’s also the stairs that leads to the 2nd floor dining area. I thought the flowers were a nice touch although I would have preferred if they were real.

Right next to our table, by the window, is an old rusty bike.

There’s also a dining area outside which looks very cozy.

I took this picture when we were having dinner in yellow cab right after we watched The Green Lantern in GB3. It was Father’s day.

This is my brother. This picture I took before watching The Green Lantern in GB3. I call him Yopeeps because that’s his nickname. I never got used to calling him Kuya which bothered him when we were younger I think but he never told me.

This is a picture of an instax mini pic that I took of my brother and sister. My sister is the eldest and she usually likes to flash her brightest smile when you take  pictures of her. She looks like that in most of her pictures.

I found this clip of Adele singing one of my favorite songs – I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt.

Admittedly, I still love George Michael’s cover better but it’s always nice to hear a new and amazing voice singing one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. I really wish Adele would visit Manila for a concert and offer some affordable tickets!
